Part Three: Refurbishments at Milton Keynes

This week, we’ll take a look at the refurbishments done over the summer at our Milton Keynes site, to streamline our manufacturing process and deliver better all-round product presentation for our customers.
We worked with Avanti Conveyors and Mosca Direct to plan a fully-automated conveyor line that takes product pallets all the way through the finishing process, protecting and preparing them for transportation.
The new conveyors are able to handle products up to three metres wide. Platforms between the machines and conveyors raise and lower as needed to get the pallets on their way, and the journey is as smooth as possibly to ensure that newly manufactured products aren’t damaged as they move along the conveyors.
Through our coordinated barcode system, which we utilise throughout all three of our manufacturing sites, each pallet is tracked from A to B to be treated and finished accordingly. We’re also able to program the conveyor system to deliver products for finishing in a specific order if needed, which helps us make sure everything is delivered on time.
With the new in-line pallet press and stretch wrapper, we’re now able to quickly and safely pack and wrap each product pallet to minimise movement, and reduce the risk of damage during transit. These finishing touches are also programmable and customisable from product to product according to our individual customers’ requirements, keeping operations running smoothly as we aim to meet their needs.
The extensive changes at our Milton Keynes site have enabled us to increase both efficiency and capacity. All this and more means we can keep delivering high-quality service, and manufacturing fantastic sustainable packaging solutions for a wide range of customers and industries.
