Meeting Lucy Nichol – Group Design & Technical Sales Manager

Tell us a bit about your background and life before Reedbut
I started working in the corrugated industry in 1999 straight from university, beginning my career as a Structural Designer for Danisco Pack. It wasn’t long before I realised I had found an industry that I enjoyed. Who knew cardboard boxes could be so interesting!

What is it that interests you about working in the corrugated board industry?
Packaging design and print are a passion of mine. I love working with a material that ticks all the boxes for the environment (pardon the pun!). Being involved in projects with our customers to remove single-use plastics from their operation has been extremely rewarding.

What do you see as the biggest challenges of working in this industry?
The last 12 months have been particularly challenging with the increases in raw material pricing and supply pressure, but in hand with this comes the opportunity to work with our customers to review their packaging to find a solution, which is a challenge I love.

What’s your business philosophy or mantra and why?
I love – “Go the extra mile; it is never crowded”. We always find solutions for our customers and pride ourselves on going the extra mile to ensure they are happy and come back to us in the future.

What is a typical day like for you at Reedbut? What does your job involve?
Day to day management of the Technical Sales Team. Advising our new and existing customers on key packaging projects from a technical aspect to offer the right packaging solutions to fit their needs.

What drives you, both professionally and personally
Professionally – the drive to help businesses reduce their environmental impact with suitable packaging choices.
Personally – My family.

Tell us a fun fact about you
I struggled with this one, so I asked my siblings; most answers involved wine, so nothing I could divulge!

Keep an eye out for future Meet the Team blogs where we will introduce other key members of our team and find out a little more about them.
